Your Next Favorite Podcast: Crime Noir

We interviewed Candice of Crime Noir the Podcast about her inspiration to share stories about missing and murdered black folx.  If you haven’t heard of Crime Noir yet, get ready to hit that subscribe key, because Candice does an amazing job of sharing these stories in a such a sensitive way, and she shares so many cases that you probably haven’t heard yet!

What inspired you to start your podcast?

I decided to start Crime Noir because I felt like there was a lack of coverage in the media as it pertains to missing Black women and men. I wanted to fill that void and decided to create my own platform to get these stories that get swept aside in the media.  It’s really important to me to get these stories out. There’s often a lack of case coverage and how will they ever get solved if there isn’t anyone publicly advocating for them.

What got you interested in true crime? Was there a murder in your hometown? A story that has always haunted you?

I’ve always been into true crime. I went to college and studied Forensic Science. I would say Asha Degree has spooked me the most in terms of disappearance. Something about children disappearing is very unsettling to me. I hope one day we get closure regarding her disappearance. Random tidbit, but being a true crime enthusiast has heightened my paranoia because now I think everything is a potential crime scene!

What’s your favorite murder, mystery, or disappearance?

I don’t have a “favorite” murder, but I do like to research cruise ship disappearances. Oddly, I do enjoy watching full court trials on Youtube.

What true crime podcasts are you listening to right now? If podcasts aren’t your thing, we would also love to hear about a spooky book you’re reading or your favorite murder-related tv show!

Besides my own, I really enjoy Crime in Color. I love Key and JV. Those are my homies.

How can our readers find and support you?

Everyone can find me at crimenoirthepodcast.com. My instagram is crimenoirthepodcast and my twitter is crimexnoir. I’m pretty accessible, I do accept emails too. I like to chat and check in with my listeners even if it is not true crime related.
