Texas Woman Pleads Guilty To Charges in Connection With the Murder of Vanessa Guillen
Cecily Aguilar, 24, pleaded guilty Tuesday to charges of accessory to murder after the fact and three counts of false statements or representation in her involvement in the 2020 murder of Army Spc. Vanessa Guillen.
In April 2020, Aguilar's boyfriend, Army Spc. Aaron Robinson beat Guillen to death with a hammer in the armory room of Ft. Hood. In the criminal complaint, Aguilar stated that Robinson placed Guillen's body in a storage case shortly after killing her. He returned to the installation later in the evening to dispose of her corpse.
According to authorities, Aguilar helped Robinson dismember Guillen's body before taking her body to a bridge above the Leon River and setting it on fire. When her body didn't burn completely, they buried the remains in a shallow grave.
Guillen's body was found on June 30, 2020 after a two month search effort by her family and investigators.
Robinson took his own life after he was approached by investigators as they made plans to formally arrest him.
Prosecutors allege that Aguilar destroyed evidence held within Robinson’s Google account and made four “materially false statements” to federal officers, according to People Magazine. Aguilar faces up to 30 years in prison. A sentencing date has not been set.
