Suspect Charged in Disappearance and Death of Milana Li
On Friday, May 20, Portland police charged juvenile Daniel Gore (16) with the death of Milana Li, a 13-year-old who was missing and then later found dead near her home. Li has been described by family and friends since her death as a caring and fun young girl.
According to Law and Crime, Li was reported missing by her mother on May 9th, a day after she was last seen. The next day, her body was found in a stream by Westside Linear Park on the southern border of Oregon near her house.
The Washington County Medical Examiner determined her death to be a homicide, and from community tips and discussions they arrested Gore for a connection. He has a history with the Juvenile Department for non-violent offenses, and the court system is looking to try him as an adult starting in early June.
On May 21, Oregon Live wrote about a gathering held to honor Li and the life she had at the Cedar Mill Bible Church. Over 100 mourners joined together to celebrate her life and personality.
