Subway Employee Killed During Argument Over Mayonnaise
One woman was killed and another was wounded in a Subway in Downtown Atlanta, Georgia when a customer opened fire on them after an argument that began over the amount of mayonnaise on his sandwich.
Brittany Macon, 26, and her 24-year-old sister were working at a Subway in a gas station on Northside Drive in Atlanta Sunday evening when a customer began arguing with them about how much mayonnaise was on his sandwich.
The customer walked out of the store and then started shooting in the store, according to co-owner Willie Glenn. Macon was killed and pronounced dead at the scene. The 24-year-old woman was critically injured and remains in the hospital.
The manager on duty tried to fire back at the customer but missed. The wounded employee’s 5-year-old son witnessed the shooting but was not injured.
Both women began working at the store only three weeks ago. Glenn considered them model employees.
Police Chief Darin Schierbaum spoke to reporters outside the Subway and said "A senseless tragedy that we've seen numerous times throughout the year where an argument leads to gunfire, and now we have someone dead."
Thanks to tips given to police officers, investigators were able to identify and arrest a 36-year-old man in connection with the shooting. Police have not publicly identified him and it is unclear what charges he will face.
