Disgusting Serial Killer Joel Rifkin Caught 29 Years Ago

It has been 29 years since the notorious New York City located serial killer Joel Rifkin was captured by police and sentenced for the murders of 17 women over the span of five years. Rifkin, who was taken in by police on the South State Parkway on Long Island after a short chase, is serving a 203-year prison sentence in Attica Correctional Facility.

On that June night, the police pulled Rifkin (34) over and discovered a particularly terrible smell emanating from the vehicle, finding the body of 22-year-old Tiffany Bresciani in the trunk. Bresciani, like all of Rifkin’s other victims, was a sex worker in Manhattan who Rifkin had solicited, and according to Daily Mail, was chosen because their deaths and disappearances were not cared about by police, and so it was easier to get away with.

When interrogated by police, Rifkin showcased his cold detachment from the crimes he committed by describing the horrendous violence without effect. According to Oxygen, when asked by the police if he killed anyone aside from Bresciani, he replied: “One or 100, what’s the difference?” When asked where the other bodies were, he willingly drew up maps for police to find them. He never gave the police a motive for his killings.

In the end, he was convicted on nine counts of second-degree murder. Over the years, 15 of his victims have been identified from the maps drawn or through DNA evidence (Bresciani, Julie Blackbird, Lauren Marquez, Mary Catherine Williams, Barbara Jacobs, Yun Lee, Maryann Hollomon, Leah Evans, Violet O’Neill, Mary Ellen DeLuca, Lorraine Orvieto, Iris Sanchez, Jenny Soto, Anna Lopez, and Heidi Balch). According to Daily Mail, to this day, two have yet to be found.
