Romance Writer Who Tried to Trademark the Word ‘Cocky’ Found After Disappearing Following Jail Release

Faleena Hopkins, the author who attempted to trademark the word ‘cocky’ for her romance series with the word, has been found after having gone missing following her jail release.

According to People, Hopkins was found on Feb. 17, only 18 days after she was reported missing on Jan. 30, her release day from jail.

New York Daily News claims that upon her release, Hopkins had purchased a new phone, but using surveillance footage, authorities were able to determine that she had traveled to Jackson Airport. It is also claimed that Hopkins’s phone pinged Wailua and Kapaa on Kauai in Hawaii.

Though authorities received those pings on the island of Kauai, it is unclear to the public whether that’s where Hopkins was found.

Hopkins is charged with stopping or parking on the roadway, attempting to flee or elude police and operating in excess of the posted speed limit.
