Remains of Missing California Woman Identified 44 Years Later

In 1977, Linda LeBeau, 27, disappeared in California after meeting her ex-husband, Philip LeBeau, to collect money after he damaged her boyfriend’s vehicle. LeBeau was last seen by witnesses who say she was arguing with a man at a Texaco gas station.

Philip LeBeau was the main suspect in the case. It was reported that he continuously harassed his ex-wife after their divorce. Relatives identified the pair’s marriage to be violent and volatile.

According to Oxygen, in 1986, remains of a skull were found along an embankment in Lake Elsinore. However, the remains could not be identified, but detectives determined the victim had been shot in the head.

In August 2021, the Regional Cold Case Homicide Team exhumed the remains and later identified them as belonging to Linda LeBeau, according to CBSNews.

Philip LeBeau died in 2008, making it uncertain whether any charges would be filed.
