Youngstown Murder Suspect Appears In Court

Youngstown, Ohio - Murder suspect Marquez Thomas appeared in Mahoning County Municipal Court yesterday, awaiting a grand jury’s decision on whether to charge him with one count of aggravated murder and three counts of felonious assault.

These charges stem from a shooting at the Valley View Apartments complex on Tyrell Avenue in Youngstown, Ohio on December 27th. One of the victims, 42-year-old Joseph Addison, was killed, while three others were injured and taken to Mercy Hospital. Addison remains the only identified victim.

He was arrested three days later, and his first court appearance was on January 3rd, 2022 where he was arranged with a $1 million bond. Thomas’ attorney Lynn Maro, asked for her client’s bond to be reduced to $400,000 stating that her client had no previous felony convictions. According to WKBN, Thomas has maintained his innocence and even provided an alibi witness for the detectives to interview. She also asked the judge for work release, stating that Thomas is the only one working in his home and needs to provide for his family.

Assistant City Prosecutor James Vivo agreed to drop his bail to $800,000, but no less. Judge Renee DiSalvo agreed to reduce the bond to this agreed number. If Thomas were able to post this bail, he would be confined to house arrest and to have no contact whatsoever with the victims.

U.S. Marshals are now searching for Thomas’ sister, 22 year old C’Mone Thomas in connection with this shooting. Anyone with information on her whereabouts are advised to call the marshals at 1-866-WANTED or text WANTED and tip to TIP411.
