Man Charged with Murdering Mother and Grandfather
Nathan Carman has been charged with murder after allegedly killing his mother in a plot to inherit millions of dollars. Carman allegedly killed his mom, Linda Carman, at sea in 2016 when the two were on a fishing trip off the coast of New England. Nathan Carman was found floating on a raft eight days after departing with his mother from a Rhode Island marina.
He is also suspected to have killed his grandfather, John Chakalos, in 2013, when he was found dead from a gunshot wound at his home in Connecticut. Carman has not been charged with this death and denies any involvement. He is also pleading innocent to the charge of murdering his mother.
Fox News and the Boston Globe report that U.S. District Court Judge Geoffrey Crawford denied Carman’s bail request, stating that he is a flight risk and potentially dangerous. His involvement with firearms, and the longevity of his murderous plot contributed to these fears.
Nathan Carman has apparently been in an ongoing feud with the rest of his family over his late grandfather’s inheritance. This started with Carman murdering his grandfather, and continued to escalate for three years to when he killed his mother.
Carman is being held without bail and is awaiting trial.
