Kidnapped Woman Rescued By Sending Message Through GrubHub Order

Early Sunday morning workers at the Chipper Truck Café in Yonkers, New York received an unusual GrubHub order. This order included a note from a person who sounded like they were being held hostage, asking the staff to call the police and not to be obvious.

This note was found in the “additional information” portion of the order, a section meant for customers to add specific instructions upon delivery.

The owner of the restaurant, Alice Bermejo, and her workers were unsure if this message was a prank or not, but sought advice from Bermejo’s husband before proceeding. He advised the staff to call the police since it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Around 6:20 a.m. officers arrived at the scene and were able to rescue the 24-year-old woman who was kidnapped. They arrested 32-year-old Kemoy Royal who is said to have abused and raped the victim while being held against her will.

Royal will face multiple charges, including rape, strangulation, and unlawful imprisonment

GrubHub has given the restaurant $5,000 for their role in this incident.
