Irvine, CA Man Charged for Murder of Roommate

39-year-old David Allen George Bohr received charges Tuesday for murdering his roommate, 52-year-old Greg Smith, on Monday. Around 2:19AM on the 4th of July, NBC Los Angeles reports a witness texted Irvine police as he heard Bohr and Smith arguing, and gunshots soon followed. The witness, another roommate of the pair, locked himself in his room and remained unharmed.

Police arrived to find Smith dead and Bohr “at the top of the stairs holding a gun to his head.” According to ABC7 Los Angeles, two other roommates as well as neighboring residents were evacuated by “SWAT officers and Orange County Fire Authority firefighters.”

After negotiating Bohr down from his armed standoff, police took him into custody at 5:09AM.

No motive has yet been released, and information outside of these initial reports is minimal.
