Illinois Pre-K Teacher Shot Dead By Her Husband In Murder-Suicide

Amanda Calo, 31, was a Chicago Pre-K teacher and mother of two before she was found shot to death in a car alongside her husband last Monday (Jan. 24).

According to authorities, a witness notified police once they noticed the couple’s bodies inside of the vehicle. Both Calo and her husband, Antonio Alvarez, 30, suffered gunshot wounds to the head. The Cook County medical examiner ruled the deaths to be a murder-suicide. The gun was also found inside the vehicle.

Relatives told ABC7 Chicago that the couple had been separated at the time of death and Calo was in the middle of divorcing Alvarez. It is unknown how long the couple had been married.
