Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez Charged with Attempted Murder

MMA legend Cain Velasquez was arrested and charged with attempted murder this morning in California, CBS Sports confirms.

The arrest came hours after San José police responded to reports of a shooting late on Monday night. According to NBC News, the victim was shot at least once and was brought to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He is in stable condition.

 The San José Police Department said in a statement that “the motive and circumstances surrounding this incident are still under investigation at this time.”

 Velasquez is being held at the Santa Clara County Jail. It is unclear if he has retained an attorney, and the investigation remains ongoing.
