Florida Man Faces Murder Charges in the Death of His Sixty-Year-Old Mother

Twenty-nine-year-old Jontrell Collins was arrested on second degree murder charges Sunday. Police arrested Collins after a relative repeatedly tried to call Collins’s mother Harriet Owens but didn’t hear from her for days. Owens was found dead in her home with multiple injuries.

Police authorities were called around 11:30 am in St. Petersburg, Florida on Sunday to the home of Harriet Owens, a sixty-year-old woman. Police discovered Owens dead in her home with multiple injuries as well as defensive wounds. Jontrell Collins, Owens’s son, was in the home at the time, and he was arrested by police, according to Fox News.

Collins was charged with second degree murder, according to WTSP. It is currently unclear what the motive for the murder was.
