Dismembered Torso of a Woman Discovered in Shopping Cart

Police in New York City are investigating after the torso of a woman was found in a shopping cart in Brooklyn on Thursday morning.

A spokesperson for the NYPD told Newsweek that “an unidentified adult female torso within a large bag” was found at the intersection of Pennsylvania and Atlantic Avenues at around 1:45 a.m.

NBC New York reports that the body was missing its head, arms, and legs. Given the absence of any dental records or fingerprint records, detectives are trying to use DNA to identify the victim.

A medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
