Death Row Inmate Chooses Execution By Firing Squad Over Electric Chair

Richard Bernard Moore, 57, was sentenced to death in 1999 in South Carolina and has chosen to be executed by firing squad over the electric chair for his April 29th execution.

In a statement released by CNN, Moore says, "I believe this election is forcing me to choose between two unconstitutional methods of execution, and I do not intend to waive any challenges to electrocution or firing squad by making an election.”

According to The New York Post, Moore was not given the option of lethal injection because the needed drugs for this execution style could not be secured by the state.

Moore has been on death row for over two decades for the 1999 murder of store clerk, James Mahoney.
