British Nurse Tries to Kill Premature Baby Twice
Lucy Letby, a British nurse, is being put on trial for allegedly murdering seven babies and attempting to murder ten more between June 2015 and June 2016. A jury in Manchester Crown Court heard how a baby, referred to by the name of Baby H, suffered two collapses on the neonatal unit on September 26, 2015, and another one the day after, according to Fox News.
Daily Mail claims that doctors could find no “clear” medical reason for why the premature baby dramatically collapsed. Because Baby H was born six weeks early, she had suffered several episodes where her oxygen levels dropped due to air leaking from her left lung into her chest cavity during her first few days of life, but when Letby was assigned as Baby H’s designated nurse on September 26, the baby suffered a more dramatic deterioration and needed to be immediately resuscitated.
Daily Mail also claims that the night of September 27, Letby was not Baby H’s designated nurse, but when walked in on by one of her co workers after an emergency “crash” call, she was caught giving the baby rescue breaths with a special oxygen mask, and prior to this, Baby H had suffered from cardiac arrest and need CPR and a dose of adrenaline before her heart beat returned six minutes later.
While Letby’s trial still continues, she denies any and all accusations of the seven murders and ten attempted ones.
