Armed Man Attacked Children's Summer Camp in Duncanville

CNN and USA Today report that an armed man entered the Duncanville Fieldhouse on Monday morning and fired shots into a gymnasium. The man entered the building by the main doors around 8:45 a.m. with a handgun. He fired a shot at a staff member during a discussion. The staff member was unharmed. 

Camp counselors responded quickly, moving the approximately 150 kids to safer areas and locking doors. The man attempted to enter a classroom where some of the kids were sheltering, but was unable to enter. He fired one shot into the door. 

The man proceeded to the gym, but at that point police arrived. He was shot in an exchange of gunfire and transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Nobody was injured during the shooting.

Police have not released the name of the shooter or a motive.
