Amtrak Passenger Fatally Shot; Suspect Remains On The Run
An Amtrak train in Missouri stopped around 9:15 Friday night, where the victim, Richie T. Aaron Jr., 30, was pronounced dead at the scene after being shot by another passenger.
According to People, police believe the suspect fled from the train undetected as it stopped in Lee’s Summit. Since, police have been interviewing passengers who were on the train to get the most accurate timeline of events, as the 81 other passengers did not sustain any injuries.
Amtrak passenger, Chris Shaw, told KMBC that upon hearing the gunshot, he immediately notified Amtrak crew members. According to ABC News, he also stated, "If you're on a plane or a train or a school or anywhere, and you hear gunshots, you call the police, you stop," Shaw said. "You don't wait 40 minutes while there's a guy dead lying on a seat."
Amtrak officials said they are cooperating in the investigation.
