A police officer is shot during a high-speed chase

Missouri City police officer Crystal Sepulveda was shot twice early Saturday morning while pursuing a robbery suspect.

According to NBC News, Sepulveda, 29, was shot in the face and in the foot. The Texas police officer was then rushed to Memorial Hermann Medical Center, where she has remained in stable condition since Saturday afternoon.

The suspect was located after police found a stolen vehicle at a Houston gas station. A high-speed chase ensued until the suspect crashed the vehicle in front of a home and ran into the backyard. He then started shooting at police officers, striking Sepulveda.

Houston Police Chief Troy Finner said during a press conference, “He [the suspect] was armed with two automatic pistols with extended magazines. That’s what we’re facing, everybody needs to know it.”

The suspect was later pronounced dead at a hospital after a shootout with police. The unidentified suspect was between 25 and 30 years old.

The Missouri State Police Association and the Fraternity of Police Associations organized a fundraiser for Crystal Sepulveda, and it raised more than $22,000 as of Sunday night.
