Policeman Assaulted at least Seven Black Women and Girls While in Uniform
The former Kansas City officer, Roger Golubski, 69, who had long been suspected of raping and terrorizing Black women while on duty, was arrested Thursday for sexually assaulting two women multiple times from 1998 to 2002.
Golubski faced six federal counts of civil rights violations, according to federal prosecutors.
The Associated Press reported that prosecutors said in court that seven other alleged victims said they were sexually abused by Golubski from the 1980s through 2004. Some victims said he brandished a gun during the alleged sexual assaults.
At a court hearing on Thursday, Mr. Golubski pleaded not guilty to all six charges, and a judge set a hearing for Monday. On Monday, prosecutors argued in court that Golubski should not be released from jail while he awaits trial. Golubski's lawyer told the judge Monday that his client is recovering from quintuple bypass surgery and needs to stay home.
Golubski was granted release but must remain at home until the court date.
If convicted, Golubski will face a possible life sentence.
