Tennessee Student Dies after Shooting Police Officer

Authorities said a shooting at a Knoxville high school resulted in one officer being injured and one student dying Monday. Officers received reports of an armed student at Austin-East Magnet High School around 3:15 p.m. They found the student hiding in the bathroom, and when they ordered him out he started firing. According to CNN, at least one officer returned fire. According to CBS, faculty sent the remaining students home following the incident. The school provided counsellors, and classes will be cancelled Tuesday and Wednesday. The student died at the scene, and authorities did not release his name. One officer went to UT Medical Center, and doctors expect a full recovery.
