Grocery Store Shooter Identified, Charged with Murder

Since the shooting at a King Soopers grocery store Monday afternoon, authorities identified the suspect.Boulder Police identified Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa, 21, as the suspect Tuesday morning. Alissa allegedly opened fire in the Colorado supermarket, killing 10 people. According to NBC, Alissa purchased a Ruger AR-566 rifle March 16, and had a history of "paranoia." Authorities apprehended Alissa after shooting him in the leg following the incident. Then, they charged him with 10 counts of first-degree murder.Although officials have not confirmed the weapon used, witnesses described it as an AR-style gun. When questioned about other suspects, Alissa did not respond. However, he did request to speak with his mother.The victims include Denny Strong, 20, Neven Stanisic, 23, Rikki Olds, 25, Tralona Bartkowiak, 49, Suzanne Fountain, 59, Teri Leiker, 51, Kevin Mahoney, 61, Lynn Murray, 62, and Jody Waters, 65. The final victim is 51-year-old Boulder Police officer Eric Talley. Talley was the first responder to arrive on the scene, right before Alissa allegedly opened fire in the parking lot.Alissa's brother, 34-year-old Ali Aliwi Alissa, described him as "very anti-social" with a history of violence, according to The Daily Beast. Ali admitted that he believes his brother is mentally ill. He recalled that in high school, Ahmad talked about people "looking for" and "following" him. Alissa is currently in stable condition and was booked in the Boulder County Jail Tuesday afternoon.
