Your Next Favorite Podcast: Undercover Coven
If you are into true crime with a dash of paranormal activity, then Undercover Coven is the podcast for you! We recently sat down with hosts Paula and Ale to talk to them about the inspiration behind their show, what got them into true crime, and their all time favorite murder mysteries, and learn about how to join their upcoming true crime cult!
What inspired you to start Undercover Coven?
Ale and I started Undercover Coven because we wanted to share our knowledge of true crime while also learning more about it. We would listen to podcasts and then talk about crimes and the paranormal all of the time. One day we were like “Hey…why don’t we do our OWN podcast?” And that’s where everything started. Ale is in Canada and I’m in Chile and it’s been hard to do this long distance, but it’s been worth the work!
We named it “Undercover” was for the true crime aspect of the show. And “Coven” for the paranormal/creepy part.
What got you interested in true crime? Was there a murder in your hometown? A story that has always haunted you?
For Ale it was the Tate-LaBianca murders. She learned about them in her teens and has been interested in true crime ever since. For me, Paula, it was Richard Ramirez. An online friend I had at the time had been reading the book about the case and she would tell me all about the crimes, and I was hooked. I got the book. I read it. I was obsessed. Ale and I are very interested in the psychological aspects of criminals, killers, cult leaders and cult followers. The “why”. Why would they do this? Why would someone follow this crazed guy and his crazy lifestyle? It’s so interesting.
What’s your favorite murder, mystery, or disappearance?
For Ale it’s the mystery of the death of Jonbenet Ramsey. She can go on and on about it and we’ll both get angry because we want to know who it was. For me it’s the Zodiac. It drives me crazy. I want to know everything. I would like to learn who he is before I die.
What true crime podcasts are you listening to right now? If podcasts aren’t your thing, we would also love to hear about a spooky book you’re reading or your favorite murder-related tv show!
As far as podcasts go we love Kills and Chills. Those girls just seem like the nicest people and we would love to meet them some day. Ale is into the famous I’ll Be Gone in the Dark by Michelle McNamara. I’m into Mindhunter on Netflix. I need that book also! That show is just amazing.
