Utah Doctor Accused of Sexually Abusing Over 80 Patients
A gynecologist in Utah is facing allegations from former patients who claim that they were groped, molested, and degraded during their appointments with him.
In February, four women filed a complaint against Dr. David H. Broadbent, an OB-GYN at Utah Valley Hospital, claiming that he sexually assaulted them. Two months later, the number of plaintiffs has grown from four to 83.
According to reporting by the Daily Beast, the 83 women (all listed as Jane Doe’s) claim the doctor not only abused them in the examination room but systematically preyed upon women and girls for his own sexual gratification, leaving them “ashamed,” “disgusted,” and “vulnerable,” according to court records.
The allegations date all the way back to the 1980’s. Broadbent’s lawyer told the Salt Lake City Tribune in March that his client is denies all wrongdoing.
