Shooting at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee

Three people were left injured after a shooting in the parking lot of Gurnee, Illinois’s Six Flags Great America amusement park on Sunday night.

At around 7:50 p.m., police were called to report shots being fired at the Six Flags theme park in Gurnee.

According to the Gurnee Police Department media release, “a white sedan entered the Six Flags parking lot and drove toward the front entrance of the theme park. The suspects exited the vehicle and began shooting toward another individual in the parking lot. The suspects got back in the white sedan and quickly left the area.”

The three victims were a 17-year-old male with an upper thigh wound, a 19-year-old female with a lower leg wound, and a third victim with a shoulder injury. The 17- and 19-year-old victims were transported to the Advocate Condell Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, while the third victim refused a ride to the hospital, according to the Gurnee Police Department.

The Gurnee police continued, saying the incident was not a “random act and appeared to be a targeted incident.”

As of now, no arrests have been made. The shooting remains under investigation.
