Pittsburgh Mass Shooting: 2 Teens Killed, 8 Injured on City’s North Side

A search for suspects is intensifying after a deadly mass shooting at a party on Pittsburgh’s north side. Two teens have died, and eight others have been injured.

Police in Pittsburgh initially responded to the scene of the shooting just after 12:30 a.m. on Sunday after receiving Shotspotter alerts for more than 90 rounds fired.

An initial investigation by police has revealed that nearly 200 people were inside the home, many of them underaged. According to police, as many as fifty rounds were fired inside. Gunfire prompted party-goers to jump out windows and sustain injuries such as broken bones.

Matthew Steffy-Ross and Jaiden Brown, both 17, were identified Tuesday. Both boys were taken from the scene for treatment but died at the hospital.

Pittsburgh Police Chief Scott Schubert believes there was an altercation preceding the shooting. Chief Schubert also said they are working as hard as they can to identify those responsible for their deaths. He also believes there are multiple shooters.

Mayor Ed Gainey made a public statement, addressing the need for gun control in the city. Anyone with information or photographs about the shooting is urged to share them with police here.
