NY Sheriff's Deputy Kills Son and Critically Injures Wife

Off duty Sheriff’s Civil Deputy Isaac Eames killed his son, Troy Eames, 21, their family dog, and shot his wife, Karen Eames, 46, on Monday in Brewerton, New York, before turning the gun on himself.

Onondaga County Sheriff Gene Conway has stated that “We don’t have any reason to believe, we don’t have any information at the moment to say otherwise, that he was not the person responsible for this.”

Although critically wounded, Karen Eames called 911 at roughly 7:30 Monday morning. When no one was able to get into the home on Riverview Road, first responders forced their way into the home according to CNY Central.

Troy and Karen both were rushed to Upstate University Hospital where Troy later died of his injuries. Although originally admitted under critical condition, she was upgraded to serious condition on Tuesday. She is slowly recovering however. Isaac Eames was pronounced dead at the scene.

The motive for the shooting is still unclear, but police are hoping to speak to Karen once she has recovered from her physical injuries. According to a Facebook post from Karen’s sister, Karen is able to write on paper and will have surgery in the next few days.

A GoFundMe has been set up by family members for Karen’s medical treatment, as well as to help her surviving son, Andrew. The fundraiser has already raised over $42,000.
