FBI Reopens Investigation into the 1994 Murder of Diana Ault
The FBI announced on Monday that it would reopen the cold case murder of 26-year-old Diana Ault, who was shot to death in 1994 as she walked into her residence in Independence, MO.
KSHB News spoke with two members of the FBI’s Violent Crime Task Force and discussed their plans to reopen the case. Loren Freeman, a detective with the Independence Police Department and member of the Violent Crime Task Force, states that authorities are “cautiously optimistic” about the case and told reporters that they have “new leads” to explore.
Law and Crime reports that Jonathan Spaeth, one of the members of the FBI’s Violent Crime Task Force, said the FBI has “reviewed evidence to see what could and could not be tested” and hopes that advanced technology will help bring closure to the case.
