Ex-Teacher Sentenced to 41 Years After Admitting to Disturbing Sex Crimes Against Children

A former middle school teacher in Louisiana admitted to multiple sex crimes including second-degree rape, child pornography and mingling of harmful substances, the New York Post reports.

Cynthia Perkins, 36, and her then-husband Dennis Perkins were arrested in 2019 and charged with over 70 counts of sex crimes against children. Dennis Perkins was a deputy with the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office. Both resigned from their respective jobs after their arrests.

As a part of the plea deal, Cynthia will testify against her now ex-husband. She will spend 41 years in prison and won’t be eligible for parole until she has served 40 years.

According to WAFB News, Cynthia and Dennis Perkins were accused of “a number of charges including rape, producing child pornography, and participating in feeding desserts laced with his semen to school children.”

Dennis Perkins has pleaded not guilty to all charges, and his trial is set to begin on May 9, 2022.
