Boyfriend Charged in Oregon Woman's Murder, Disposal

On August 5th, 27-year-old Kaylee Birdzell was reported missing by her family. According to People Magazine, investigators from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office soon received a tip that Birdzell had been murdered and stowed in a dumpster. They found her body on Tuesday in the Coffin Butte Landfill.

Birdzell’s autopsy confirmed that her death had been a homicide, and investigators already had access to their prime suspect: 31-year-old Fabian Albert Hernandez, who had allegedly been Birdzell’s boyfriend. Hernandez had been arrested a couple of days earlier “on unrelated charges of identity theft and fraudulent use of a credit card,” states KGW-TV Portland. Yetserday, Hernandez received additional charges of second-degree murder and abuse of a corpse, due to Birdzell’s disposal in the garbage.

More charges for Hernandez are possible, according to the sheriff’s office, but investigation is still in progress. People Magazine adds that Hernandez has been jailed with no bond, and his legal representation is unknown.

Anyone with information relating to the case is instructed to call the sheriff’s office at (503) 846-2700.
