N.Y. Girl's Cold Case Solved 22 Years Later

A N.Y. girl's cold case has finally been solved after 22 years.According to CBS2, Minerliz Soriano, 13, was found strangled inside a dumpster on February 28, 1999. Soriano was bound and her body had been wrapped in a garbage bag. She was last seen three days earlier leaving her middle school. Soriano had also been sexually assaulted.ABC7 reports that Joseph Martinez, 49, was arraigned on Tuesday for the N.Y. girl's murder. The suspect is now known as "Jupiter Joe" because he teaches astronomy to local kids. Police say that Martinez was linked to the murder due to a newly available DNA test. The NYPD's Forensic investigation unit found Martinez's father's DNA which led them to Martinez.Martinez is pleading not guilty to the murder of Minerliz Soriano.
