Toddler Dies After Ingesting Fentanyl, Mom Charged with Murder
After a 2-year-old boy consumed fentanyl, a dangerous narcotic, authorities charged a Kentucky mother with murder. Lauren Ashley Baker, 33, said she took the narcotic before napping with the child Thursday. When she woke up, the contents of her purse scattered across the floor, including the fentanyl. The child lay on the floor and wasn't breathing.According to WLKY, Baker travelled to Cincinnati, Ohio, to purchase the drug the weekend before the boy's death. When she returned to Kentucky, she shared the fentanyl with two other individuals. Kenton County Commonwealth’s Attorney, Rob Sanders, criticized Baker for not keeping the drugs out of reach. He described the situation as "tragic and senseless." According to WSAZ, Baker is also charged with importing the fentanyl and trafficking in a controlled substance.
