Gainesville, 1990 -- On this week in true crime history, the Gainesville Ripper terrorized a college town in Florida, targeting students just as the new school year was getting started. As the killer's murderous spree kicked off, students made a mass exodus back home to be with their families.
Today in true crime history -- on August 20th 1978, five teenage boys were reported missing from Newark, New Jersey. Alberta was the first black woman to pass the Kentucky Bar exam, as well as Muhammed Ali's first lawyer, and 56 years ago this week her body was found in the Ohio River after dying under pretty suspicious circumstances.
