Brandi and Mikki of Murder History Girls decided to join their love of true crime and history together to create the ultimate podcast–a murder history podcast!  We chatted with the two sisters about working at a cemetery and their favorite true crime tv!

What inspired you to start your podcast?

Brandi: I have always had a love of history. I love learning about past events and people. About five or so years ago I started watching true crime documentaries, and then started a love of true crime as well. I’ve always had dreams of starting a podcast, and when I shared this with my sister the MHG was formed.

Mikki: What started this journey? That’s a great question. I love true crime and my sister is a huge history buff so put our passions together and started a podcast. We love talking about these things with each other and thought, “Who doesn’t want to hear us talk about this for an hour and a half”! We have such a passion for what we talk about and I think it shows on our podcast.

What got you interested in true crime? Was there a murder in your hometown? A story that has always haunted you?

Mikki: Growing up military, we have lived everywhere! So naturally there’s a history in every place we have lived.  But honestly, I have always been fascinated with true crime. I remember the first time I read about The Manson Family and thought, there’s probably more Charles Mason’s out there! I want to know about them all!

Brandi: I worked for a large cemetery and funeral home for 9 years and the deaths always fascinated me. I always found the story of the people’s lives very interesting, but I was especially interested in how they died. Sounds morbid, I know. But people’s deaths sometimes tell a lot about who they were alive.
