The Story of Gypsy Rose Blanchard
Gypsy Rose Blanchard who was constantly deemed “ill” by her abusive mother was actually a healthy young girl, but soon Gypsy had enough of her mother’s abuse and would later serve a 10-year sentence for the murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard.
Dee Dee Blanchard gave birth to her daughter Gypsy Rose in 1991. Shortly after her birth, Dee Dee claimed Gypsy suffered from sleep apnea. However, after medical examination, Gypsy was deemed fine. However, Dee Dee was convinced something was wrong with her daughter. Later, at the age of 8, she claimed Gypsy suffered from leukemia and muscular dystrophy after receiving minor cuts from falling off of her grandfather’s motorcycle. After being treated for the bruises, Dee Dee insisted Gypsy required a wheelchair. Soon, Dee Dee went on to say her daughter had cancer, asthma, visual impairments, and more. However, Gypsy actually was a healthy kid and did not suffer from anything her mother claimed.
Because of her mother, Gypsy went on to take multiple medications and have multiple surgical procedures.
At the age of 14, a neurologist claimed Gypsy to be a victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy. As the years went on, Dee Dee continued this and even went as far as altering Gypsy’s birth certificate.
Shortly after, Gypsy got back online and joined a dating website where she met her boyfriend at the time, Nicholas Godejohn. She told Godejohn about her lifetime of abuse and ultimately asked him to kill her mother, to which he agreed.
In June 2015, Godejohn fatally stabbed Dee Dee.
