Man Arrested for Murder of N.C. Transgender Woman Who Vanished Three Weeks Ago

According to People, Wilmington Police Department believes KC Johnson, 27, a missing transgender woman was killed by a man she met on social media. The man allegedly robbed and threatened her with a hammer as well. Police believe that Johnson was killed on Friday, Jan.13, 2023. She was reported missing the following day. 

William Haven Hicks, 25, was charged with first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, kidnapping, and financial card theft in connection with the disappearance and presumed death of KC Johnson, according to Wilmington Star News. He is currently being held at the Myrtle Beach Police Department under no bond. 

Johnson’s body has not been found, but according to Wilmington Star News, police are waiting on the identification of remains found in Georgia that are possibly hers. 

Hicks is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2023.
