"Law & Order" Crew Member Killed While Working
A contract worker for the TV show “Law & Order: Organized Crime” was shot and killed early Tuesday morning. The tragedy of the crew member’s death could have followed the plot of the same show, and actually confused some local residents.
Johnny Pizarro, a 31 year-old from Queens, was working on behalf of a company that reserves parking spots and streets for cast and crew members. He was sitting in his car around 5:15am when he was shot. A colleague of Pizarro told the New York Post that it was all quiet, with no sounds of an argument. He heard a pop, and saw the gunman running up Nassau Avenue. He only heard one shot, but Pizarro was found with wounds in his throat and head. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly before 6:00am.
The irony of the crime happening so close to the set of “Law & Order” confused at least one local. Janus Czuj, 60, saw the police officers when he woke up, but thought it was just a fake crime scene. He tried to walk his dogs through the scene before realizing a real shooting had taken place.
Johnny Pizarro, who was married with three kids, had an arrest record including domestic violence, DWI, and marijuana cases, but has been clean since 2015. All of his cases are sealed.
