Indiana Mother Abandons Nonverbal Son With Autism On The Road

Heather Nicole Adkins, 32, was arrested on Feb. 19 in Georgetown, Kentucky and was charged with child endangerment and kidnapping after abandoning her nonverbal son with Autism on the side of the road.

According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, Adkins drove her son about 75 miles from Indiana to Cincinnati where she abandoned him on a roadside. Police stated that a driver called 911 reporting a little boy walking alone on the side of the road. The boy was waving down cars and soaking wet.

In an interview, Adkins said she abandoned her son to “save him from herself.”

The boy is currently in custody of Hamilton County Job and Family Services.
