Family of Four Kidnapped in Central California
Investigators in Merced County, California are searching for a man the believe is “armed and dangerous” following the kidnapping of a family of four, including an infant, Monday morning.
Jasleen Kaur, 27, and Jasdeep Singh, 36, their 8-month-old Aroohi Dheri and the baby’s uncle, Amandeep Singh, 39, were kidnapped from a business in the 800 block of South Highway 59 early Monday morning. The name of the specific business has not been revealed.
Merced County Sheriff Vern Warnke has said that investigators are currently unaware of the motive which led to the kidnapping. In a statement, Sheriff Warnke aid "We've got detectives out canvassing, we've had aircraft out looking for evidence. People are gonna be working 24 hours on this until we get a break in this.”
Investigators believe that the suspect may have destroyed evidence to cover his tracks. There have been no demands for ransom or contact made by the family or suspects according to ABC 10 Sacramento.
Officers released photos Monday evening of the man they believe is the suspect. In the photos, the suspect has a shaved head and is wearing a black and grey hoodie, black pants, black tennis shoes, and a surgical mask. No further updates have been released as of Tuesday afternoon.
