Body Found in Reservoir Believed to be Kiely Rodni
Human remains found in a submerged vehicle Sunday are believed to be those of missing California teen Kiely Rodni.
Rodni was last seen between 12:30 a.m. and 1 a.m. at the Prosser Family Campground in Truckee, California on August 6. She was attending a massive high school farewell party at the time of her disappearance.
The vehicle was found by volunteer dive group Adventures with a Purpose in just over a half an hour. The Honda-CRV she owned was found upside down 14 feet beneath the lake’s surface. The water level has dropped about 3 feet since Rodni’s disappearance.
In a Facebook post, they confirmed they found Rodni and the car. They stated they contacted her family and law enforcement agents. Adventures with a Purpose typically works on cold cases, not active investigations. The group has over 2.4 million subscribers on YouTube and has helped solve 23 cold cases.
Nevada County Sheriff Shannon Moon confirmed Monday the car found was Rodni’s. Sheriff Moon does note that the human remains found inside have not been positively identified, but are “more than likely Rodni’s.”
An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday and a toxicology report will be performed. Typically, it takes four to six week for results.
