3 Kids Have Turned Themselves in to Police in Connection with Bludgeoning Death of 73yo Man
Two brothers, ages 10 and 14, and a teenage girl, age 14, have turned themselves in to police in connection with the bludgeoning death of James Lambert, the 73 year-old man who died on June 24.
On June 24, 2:30am, a group of seemingly adolescent kids were captured on video from a traffic cam, allegedly beating Lambert with several objects, including a traffic cone. The group, reportedly consisting of four Black males and three Black females, knocked Lambert to the ground. He was hospitalized and died of his injuries the next day. At least two members of the group physically participated in the beating, and one of them was videoing the assault.
Abc News reports that the boys, Richard Jones and his younger brother, turned themselves in on Monday evening alongside an attorney. The 10 year-old has been released without charges, but Richard Jones has been charged with murder and criminal conspiracy. He will reportedly be facing these charges as an adult.
FoxNews reports that this morning (7/13), a 14 year-old girl turned herself in to police. Her mother and an attorney accompanied her.
Officers have not commented on whether the other persons of interest will be charged.
A summer curfew has recently been put into effect. Teens 14 to 17 must be home by 10:00pm, as opposed to the previous curfew of midnight. Those under 13 have a curfew of 9:30pm.
