N.Y. Woman Attempts to Attack Elderly Husband
A N.Y. woman attempted to attack her elderly husband who she married for citizenship.According to the WestChester County District Attorney's Office, Olivia Raimo, 30, attacked her husband with a straight razor and slit his wrist. The incident occurred on January 24, 2020. The victims, 74, was wedged in between the toilet and wall by Raimo while she slit his wrist. His home health aid arrived during the incident and called the police. The New Rochelle Police Department entered after they heard the victim scream.The victim was taken to Jacobi Hospital. He underwent two surgeries to connect the tendons in his arm. He ultimately lost the use of his hand. The N.Y. woman was arrested on Feb. 11, 2020.News Observer reports that the couple had married in 2017, but still had to prove the legitimacy of their marriage. Raimo's citizenship was dependent on their upcoming U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services interview.Raimo pled guilty to Attempted Murder in the Second Degree on Nov. 15. Her plea agreement will have her sentenced to 15 years in prison with 5-years of post release supervision. Raimo's sentencing is scheduled for January 13, 2022.
