A California couple was charged with the murder of their son after his body was found in their basement, People Magazine reports.
Jordan and Lindsay Piper, father and stepmother to 11-year-old Roman Anthony Lopez, were both found guilty of multiple crimes, including poisoning, child abuse, and torture of the boy.
During a search of the home, investigators discovered the body of Lopez in a storage container that was being kept within the couple’s home.
A post from Placerville Police Department released a statement, saying “The Placerville Police Department and the El Dorado County District Attorney’s Office would like to thank Roman’s loved ones, who never lost confidence in our ability as an investigative team to leave no question unanswered. Our hearts will forever be with them all. We understand this case brings many questions and emotions within our community, but our commitment to conduct a thorough investigation has never stopped.”
