Tamla Horsford of Cumming, Georgia was pronounced dead on November 4, 2018 after a sleepover at a friend’s house. Her death was quickly determined to be an accident after sustaining a two-story fall from the house’s balcony after a long night of drinking and smoking. At least that’s what the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and Georgia Bureau of Investigation concluded.
Israel Keyes, an American serial killer, confessed to murdering 11 people after being arrested in 2012. His murders date back to the late 90s and continued on until 2012 after kidnapping and murdering his last victim, Samantha Koenig, in Anchorage, Alaska where he, his girlfriend, and daughter all lived.
Over 45 years ago just outside of Detroit in Oakland County, Michigan a serial killer was kidnapping and murdering young children between the ages of 10-12. This killer has four confirmed victims with a few others who have been loosely linked to the case due to proximity and similar victim demographics. True crime information should be spread responsibly, truthfully, and fairly. We must give attention to the cases that don’t get as much media attention. The cases where the victims are Black. The cases where the victims are Indigenous. The cases where the victims are LGBTQIA+. The cases where the victims were sex workers. The unsolved cases. If you’re a true crime enthusiast, utilize your inner moral compass when deciding what to pay attention to or write about.

This form of gun violence is the most common in the United States and continues to plague the nation. Many things contribute to the prevalence of mass shootings, among them being loose gun laws and the rise of white supremacy.
