Police arrested a Melbourne man in connection with a case that has remained cold for 32 years.

Officials charged Glen Nash, 58, with the murders of Doris McCartney and her brother Ronald Swann on October 22 1989. Over 31 year ago, police found the bodies of McCartney, a widow, and Swann, a World War II veteran, in their home in Moorabbin, Australia. Nash strangled both siblings. McCartney was aged 86 when she died, her brother had recently moved in as her family were concerned about her activities. According to a previous lover, McCartney often entertained men, frequently leaving her bedroom window open. However, police have not commented whether this is how Nash broke in to the house.

For over three decades, the mystery of their deaths anguished family members. Last week, Victoria Police offered a $1 million reward for information concerning the case.

According to ABC News, Nash suffers significant health issues and is being treated with morphine whilst in custody. Moreover, Nash continues to undergo radiotherapy treatment whilst in prison. However, Nash will appear in court for sentencing in July this year.
