Brandon Shaw, 35, reported Sierra Kathleen Henderson Ashburn, 28, missing the morning of Wednesday, May 6, according to a statement from the Surry County Sheriff’s Office.

Later that same day, detectives from the sheriff’s office drove out the couple’s Mount Airy home to follow up with Shaw and began asking him questions about the disappearance, The Mount Airy News reports.

Authorities said Shaw provided “details” that led them to find Ashburn’s body buried on the property.

Police in Colorado are searching for a missing mother who was last seen going for a bike ride on Mother’s Day.

On Sunday, Suzanne Morphew, 49, from Maysville, was reported missing after she went for a bike ride and didn’t come home, the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

At a press conference Friday night, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office said they believed they found the remains of Evelyn Mae Boswell earlier that evening. The remains are being sent for autopsy and positive identification, Sheriff Jeff Cassidy said. Authorities acting on a tip found the remains on a property in Blountville that is owned by a relative of Evelyn’s mother, the sheriff said.

Authorities in Georgia have escalated the search for a missing Fort Valley State University student who was last seen on Valentine’s Day.

The search began Saturday when the family of 23-year-old Anitra Gunn reached out to police and said they had not heard from her for an “unusual amount of time,” the Fort Valley Police Department said.

Her car was found later that day damaged with a torn bumper near her apartment inside Fort Valley city limits, Fort Valley Chief Lawrence Spurgeon told CNN.

The upcoming Netflix film “Lost Girls” depicts the tragic death of Shannan Gilbert and her mother Mari Gilbert’s subsequent quest for the truth.

Shannan was a 24-year-old sex worker who was vanished on May 1, 2010 while seeing a client out on Oak Beach, Long Island. Before she disappeared, multiple panicked calls were made to 911. Gilbert estate lawyer John Ray told Oxygen.com one call was from Gilbert’s client Joseph Brewer, two were from neighbors and one – which is believed to be over twenty minutes long – was from Shannan herself. In that call, she allegedly screamed “They’re trying to kill me!” according to PIX11. It’s not clear who she was referring to.

Police in Idaho have found a cellphone belonging to 17-year-old Tylee Ryan, who, along with her 7-year-old adopted brother, JJ Vallow, hasn’t been seen since September, a source close to the investigation told CBS News. It appears her phone was found in Hawaii with her mother, Lori Vallow, who has been considered a person of interest in the case.

An Arizona couple have been accused of keeping the body of their 11-year-old daughter, who was adopted, in their attic for more than two years.

On Jan. 28, Phoenix firefighters responded to the home of Rafael and Maribel Loera for a house fire. While inside the home, first responders discovered human bones, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

The body was hidden within the drywall of the home and found after the fire was extinguished, the Arizona Republic reports.

An Alabama woman was rescued from a man who allegedly kidnapped her at knife point and forced her into the back of a van after a witness called police and reported the incident.

Brookside police said the call 911 call from an unidentified citizen came in around 2.45pm on Sunday.

According to police, the witness said the suspect kidnapped the woman while brandishing a knife on Brookside Coalburg Road.

The parents of 17-year-old Victoria Hall have spoken of their hope of finding her killer after she was found in a ditch 20 years ago.

Victoria Hall disappeared when she was walking home from a nightclub in Felixstowe, Suffolk, on September 19 1999.

Her body was found by a dog walker in a water-filled ditch five days later in Creeting St Peter near Stowmarket, Suffolk, but her killer has never been found.
