Senior elders in the remote community of Yuendumu in the NT say police officers must reconsider the use of guns in some communities in the wake of a teenager’s death in custody.
A policeman accused of murdering an aboriginal man in the Northern Territory has been identified as Zachary Rolfe. The 28-year-old allegedly shot Kumanjayi Walker at Yuendumu, near Alice Springs.

A Northern Territory police officer has been charged with murder over last weekend’s shooting of a 19-year-old Indigenous man, Kumanjayi Walker.
Kumanjayi Walker’s shooting death in Australia has prompted anger and protests across the country. Constable Zachary Rolfe, 28, was arrested on Wednesday, NT Police said. He is yet to respond to the allegation of murder.
