A Utah man who was in a love triangle and mistakenly killed a Virginia elementary school teacher was sentenced Friday to 22 years in prison.

Ed Shaw, 72, was sentenced after pleading guilty in October to second-degree murder in the death of Caroline Hendrix, The Virginian-Pilot reported.

The police have cracked the mystery of the murder of the intermediate student who was found with her throat slit in her home on February 10 and arrested her father for the crime.

A 19-year-old intermediate first-year student was found dead in her house, in Vidyanagar locality of the town, with her throat slit and three tolas of gold and ₹ 99,000 cash missing from the house on February 10.

The Karimnagar Commissionerate of Police used latest technology, including German technology FARO 3D scanner, 3D crime scene photography and videography and body fluid kits to crack the gruesome killing of the girl. A total of 75 police personnel in eight teams have worked 21 days to crack the case.

Five people were charged with trafficking — three of them accused of federal crimes and two charged with violating Florida law. A 19-year-old Barrhead man is facing an attempted murder charge after he allegedly assaulted his mother, leaving her in critical condition. RCMP responded to a Barrhead home at about 7:40 p.m. Friday after receiving a request for assistance from paramedics who were treating a 45-year-old woman with serious injuries. She remains in critical but stable condition, RCMP said.

Detroit Police Chief James Craig told reporters at an impromptu afternoon news conference that minutes earlier detectives had taken the suspect, James Quill Cockerham, into custody in the death of 26-year-old Elizabeth Candice Nichole Laird. “I appreciate our friends in the media for really dispelling a horrible rumor that was circulating across the city that there was a serial killer and that he had dumped five bodies in dumpsters across the city,” Craig said.
