In an update to a previous article, Joseph Oberhansely who murder and ate the body parts of his ex-girlfriend was sentenced Friday to life in prison without parole. Oberhansely was charged with the murder of Tammy Blanton and burglary but was declared not guilty of the rape charges.

On Tuesday, September 15, a family made a terrifying discovery after finding dismembered body parts in their relative’s suitcase. Melvin Martin Jr., a Kentucky native, went to visit his relatives in Markham, Illinois. According to KWQC, the family first started to suspect Martin when they smelled a weird odor coming from his suitcase. Martin never unpacked and kept his belongings close to him at all times.

Brandon Shaw, 35, reported Sierra Kathleen Henderson Ashburn, 28, missing the morning of Wednesday, May 6, according to a statement from the Surry County Sheriff’s Office.

Later that same day, detectives from the sheriff’s office drove out the couple’s Mount Airy home to follow up with Shaw and began asking him questions about the disappearance, The Mount Airy News reports.

Authorities said Shaw provided “details” that led them to find Ashburn’s body buried on the property.

Sussex Police reports that 42-year-old Robert Needham, of Sussex, England, along with wife Kelly Fitzgibbons, 40, their children, Ava, 4, and Lexi, 3, and their family dog were all found dead inside a home in Woodmancote, West Sussex. The bodies were discovered at around 6:45 p.m., according to authorities. Needham is thought to have killed his family before taking his own life, amid worries about money during the coronavirus pandemic.

Five people were charged with trafficking — three of them accused of federal crimes and two charged with violating Florida law. Another 34 suspected accomplices or possible traffickers were arrested on trafficking-related charges, such as money laundering or drug possession. In addition, eight suspected “Johns” or sex buyers were arrested, Fernandez Rundle said.
